What if I want to upgrade from a lower developer version to a higher stable version on a device with rollback protection?

What if I want to upgrade from a lower developer version to a higher stable version on a device with rollback protection (i.e. HM6Pro sakura)?
I really want to move to a stable ROM now, but I am afraid that the rollback protection will prevent me from moving.
